PRIVACY POLICY
Updated September 9, 2026
1. Introduction
Welcome to PlanetMeme! ("we", "us", "the app", "the platform") We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use this app or our website at planetmeme.com.
2. Information We Collect
Using the app means you agree to provide a username/password, which may be an email address and/or an Apple ID/Google ID.
Using the app means you agree to provide valid identification such as a photo ID or passport. This information will be required when claiming certain prizes on the platform.
Some meme tournaments will only allow participation within a geofence. You agree to share your precise location for these tournaments. This location data is only used within the app.
3. Email Signup on Our Website
If you enter your email address into the signup form on planetmeme.com, we store that address so that we can tell you when PlanetMeme launches and send occasional updates about the platform. Giving it to us is optional. You do not need to provide an email address to browse the website, and this is separate from the account email described in Section 2.
The record we store contains three things: your email address, a label identifying which form you used, and the date and time you submitted it. We do not collect your name, your location, or any advertising identifier through this form. Google, which hosts our website and database, may separately log technical information such as your IP address as part of operating the service.
Your address is stored using Firebase (Google Cloud Firestore) on servers in the United States. We do not sell your email address, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
You may ask us to remove your address at any time by emailing admin@planetmeme.com, and any marketing email we send will include an unsubscribe link. We keep your address until you ask us to remove it or until it is no longer needed for launch announcements.
4. Payment Information
The app offers items for purchase, such as tournament hosting credits. Making purchases means you agree to use Apple/Google payment processing, based on your region.
5. Information from Third Parties
We do not use Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, or any other third-party analytics or crash-reporting service. What we know about how the app is used comes from our own server records.
The app does rely on these services, each for one job:
- Google AdMob shows ads, including the optional rewarded ads that fund prize pools. AdMob may collect device identifiers, coarse location and ad-interaction data. On iOS we ask permission first; if you decline, ads are not personalized.
- inBrain provides the optional surveys you can take to earn credits. When you open the survey wall we give inBrain your PlanetMeme account number so a completed survey can be credited to you. You are never required to take one.
- Google Firebase handles sign-in, image storage and notifications.
- Google Play Integrity and Apple App Attest confirm that the app asking to vote, enter a tournament or redeem a prize is a genuine, unmodified copy on a real device. Your device talks to Google or Apple directly; we send them nothing about you.
- Tango Card delivers gift cards you redeem, and receives the name and email address needed to send one.
- country.is tells us which country an IP address is in, so the beta stays limited to the United States. When you sign in we send it the IP address your connection is coming from and it answers with a two-letter country code — nothing else is sent, and nothing else comes back. We use the answer to allow or refuse that one sign-in and then discard it: we never store the country, the city or any location derived from your address. All we keep is a date recording that your account has signed in from inside the United States at least once, so travelling does not lock you out.
To protect prize competitions from cheating we also keep records of how votes were cast — including a one-way hash of your IP address rather than the address itself, which lets us tell whether two votes came from the same place without storing a location.
The region check above is the only place we turn an IP address into a location, it happens at sign-in and nowhere else, and the result is never written down. It is also easily defeated by a VPN, so we treat it as a courtesy rather than proof of where you live — the country and state you give us at sign-up remain what we rely on.
6. Data Retention
The app maintains your data for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time. Any content (memes) that you created on the platform will remain, but your association to this data will be removed, and the platform's identification used instead.
